“Arise and Shine” was a music training project held in Malindi, Kenya, where over 300 children learned singing techniques, rhythm, and self-expression. Led by Ivan Sembatya and supported by Sage Emmanuel, the children not only learned music—they gained confidence, unity, and joy. The project song, “Arise and Shine,” became a personal anthem that uplifted the children and brought their voices to life.
Goal: Support for emotional healing
“You Can” was written for a young girl who had faced trauma—but its message now reaches many others. The song encourages listeners to find strength, hope, and courage, no matter their past. It’s used in workshops to support emotional healing, helping participants express themselves and feel supported through music.
Inspired by: Suraj Holzwarth
This song was based on a true story from Suraj’s youth, when she climbed a challenging mountain. Ivan turned that experience into a song about courage, perseverance, and personal growth. It reminds listeners that we all face mountains in life, and even when the climb feels tough, reaching the top brings strength and clarity.
Written by: Ivan Sembatya & the Young Generation group
“Generation” was written to inspire unity among youth from different backgrounds. Though the original music group later disbanded, the message of the song still stands strong: young people are the leaders of tomorrow, and through unity and vision, they can change the world. It’s a reminder that dreams don’t die—they wait to be revived.

Collaboration: Suraj Holzwarth
Created in memory of Suraj Holzwarth’s daughter, Sierra, this touching song was written to honor her life and legacy. Ivan worked closely with Suraj to write “My Bright Star,” a heartfelt tribute that brings comfort and healing to those who’ve lost loved ones. It reminds us that the people we cherish remain with us in spirit, memories, and music.
